Camping Tent Selection Guide

Choosing the right tent is critical for a comfortable camping experience.

Capacity

A 2-person tent may be tight for 2 people + equipment. Choose a model with 1 extra person capacity.

Season Rating

3-season tents are ideal for summer and spring. 4-season tents are needed for winter camping.

Weight

Prefer under 2 kg for backpacking. Weight is less important if you are car camping.

Waterproofness

Prefer models with at least 3000mm water column. Seams should be taped.

Ease of Setup

Free-standing tents can be set up anywhere. Models that can be set up by one person are practical.
